What's included
Everything the job needs, from one firm.
Lock replacement
Keys can be lost, misplaced or stolen at any time. We respond fast, and replacement locks are fitted with anti-drill and anti-snap cylinders as standard, protecting against common forms of forced entry.
Door adjustment
Sticking uPVC, wooden or composite doors inspected and adjusted: hinges, locking mechanisms and keeps. Regular adjustment prevents unnecessary wear and costly damage to the locking system.
Keyed-alike systems
Multiple locks throughout your property operated with a single key. One key for the front door, back door and side gate, without compromising security.
Restricted master key systems
For businesses and properties needing enhanced control. Keys can only be duplicated through an authorised code process, so you decide exactly who holds access.
Smart locks & code locks
Smart locks with app-based access and control, plus mechanical code locks for offices, commercial premises, gates and external access points.

Emergency call-out runs 24/7 across Kent for lock-outs and lock failures. You get an honest arrival estimate on the phone before the engineer sets out.

Process
How it works on this job.
1
Describe the fault
Tell us the door, the lock and what it is doing. Say whether it is planned work or an emergency, the two are handled differently.
2
Quote or call-out
Planned work starts with a free visit and a written quote. Lock-outs and lock failures go straight to emergency call-out.
3
Repair, adjust or replace
The engineer repairs or adjusts where possible and replaces where not, and explains the choice before work starts.
4
Test and hand over
Every lock is tested with you before the engineer leaves. Keys are handed over and the work area is left tidy.
“Jon and Craig are always brilliant. My wife and I always come back to Locks n Alarms due to the trust, humanity and high quality work that Jon and Craig always deliver. Moving into a new home is a stressful enough process on its own, so having trades-people that Jon and Craig in your world to take just a bit of that away is golden. They always leave the site of work clean, clear and offer great service helping custoemrs understand the apps, technology and also are always available for after sales care. I cannot recommend Locks n Alarms highly enough.”

Questions
Asked and answered.
How fast is your emergency locksmith response?
Emergency call-out runs 24/7 across Dartford and the whole of Kent. Arrival time depends on distance and traffic, so you get an honest estimate when you call. A Checkatrade reviewer in DA14 wrote of their lock repair: "Very prompt response to my request." Another, in DA5, has used the firm for emergency call-out, alarms and CCTV across two different properties.
Are your replacement locks anti-snap?
Yes. Replacement locks are fitted with anti-drill and anti-snap cylinders as standard, protecting against common forms of forced entry. High-security cylinders with enhanced protection against drilling and snapping are also available where the property or insurer calls for them.
My door is sticking. Do I need a new lock?
Often not. If a uPVC, wooden or composite door is sticking, not closing correctly or becoming hard to lock, the hinges, locking mechanism and keeps can usually be inspected and adjusted so the door operates smoothly. A balcony door lock in DA14 was repaired rather than replaced. Adjustment also prevents wear that damages the locking system over time.
Can one key open all my locks?
Yes. A keyed-alike system lets multiple locks throughout your property work from a single key. For businesses that need tighter control, a restricted master key system goes further: keys can only be duplicated through an authorised code process, preventing unauthorised copies.
Do you fit smart locks and code locks?
Yes. Smart locks with app-based access and control, and mechanical code locks for offices, commercial premises, gates and external access points. Our advice page "Smart locks vs traditional locks: which should I choose?" compares the options; the quote visit settles which suits your doors.
Can you check my locks during an alarm job?
Yes. A Checkatrade reviewer in DA7 booked an alarm service and had a door lock examined on the same visit; they had used Locks & Alarms for about 13 years. If you want locks checked while an engineer is already at your property, say so when booking.
