Intruder Alarms Crayford & Kent

Locks & Alarms Ltd installs, upgrades and services wired, hybrid and wireless intruder alarms for homes and businesses in Crayford and across Kent. Where existing cabling is suitable, an older wired alarm can often be modernised by upgrading the panel and keypad rather than replacing the whole system, and wireless smart systems from Pyronix and Ajax cover properties where cabling is impractical. Every job starts with a free quote.

What's included

Everything the job needs, from one firm.

  • Wired system upgrades

Where existing cabling and equipment are suitable, we upgrade the main control panel, keypad and other components on the existing wiring. A cost-effective way to modernise an older system without starting again.

  • Hybrid app-control upgrades

Depending on the existing system, we can upgrade the panel and add compatible wireless devices and communications, bringing app control, remote management and notifications to an existing wired alarm.

  • Wireless smart systems

Where wired is unsuitable or wireless is preferred, we install professional wireless smart alarms from Pyronix and Ajax, with far less cabling and disruption during installation.

  • The established brands

We work with established alarm manufacturers including Texecom, Pyronix, Scantronic (Eaton) and Sterling, so an older system can usually be assessed and upgraded rather than condemned.

  • Detection devices

PIRs, door and window contacts and glass-break detectors, chosen for the property. A Checkatrade-verified install in DA1 included 15 glass-break protectors as part of an Ajax system.

  • Annual servicing

Yearly checks and battery replacement keep the system working. Checkatrade reviews record services with new batteries in DA5, DA8, DA15 and DA17.

Process

How it works on this job.

  1. 1

    Visit

A free visit to survey your property. The engineer checks entry points, walks the layout and listens to what you need. A DA17 reviewer wrote that Jon “patiently listened and answered all my questions”.

  2. 2

    Quote

A written quote follows, listing exactly what the survey found. A DA1 reviewer described detailed advice at quotation and “no pressure to make a decision”.

  3. 3

    Install

The system is fitted on the agreed date. Reviewers describe tidy work: a DA7 customer noted the team “cleared up after their work” and repainted where an old box came off.

  4. 4

    Handover

Before leaving, the engineer explains the whole system until you are comfortable using it. A DA1 reviewer was given “a thorough run-through of the system” with time for questions.

10/10DA7
Jon and Craig did a marvellous job. They were conscientious and thorough at every stage. They cleared up after their work and even touched up the paint on the exterior pebbledash for us after removing an old defunct alarm box. The products are fantastic, with amazing technology, but at the same time user friendly. Jon and Craig explained clearly and thoroughly how everything worked when the installation was finished. Throughout the work they were friendly and chatty and really easy going - two of the nicest guys you could wish to meet. A great all-round experience using this company.

Questions

Asked and answered.

Do I need to replace my whole wired alarm system?

Often, no. Where the existing cabling and equipment are suitable, we upgrade the main control panel, keypad, communications equipment and other components while re-using the existing wiring, and keep existing detectors where appropriate. Checkatrade reviews record exactly this: a DA2 reviewer had an alarm “upgraded to a more up to date system”. We work with established manufacturers including Texecom, Pyronix, Scantronic (Eaton) and Sterling, so most older systems can be assessed and modernised.

Can I control my existing wired alarm from my phone?

Usually, yes, with a hybrid upgrade. Depending on the existing system and equipment, we upgrade the control panel and add compatible wireless devices and communications technology, giving you mobile app control, remote system management and alarm notifications, without ripping out the wired system you already have.

Which alarm manufacturers do you work with?

For upgrades we work with many established alarm manufacturers, including Texecom, Pyronix, Scantronic (Eaton), Sterling and other leading brands. For new wireless smart systems we install the Pyronix Enforcer and Ajax. The quote visit assesses what you have and recommends the most suitable route.

Can I have an intruder alarm if I have pets?

Usually, yes. Sensor type and placement are decided at the quote visit, so detectors can be positioned to avoid false alarms from animals moving around the house. Tell the engineer about your pets and their routes through the property. Reviewers describe engineers who work around households, one DA7 customer wrote they “took time to make friends with my kitten”.

How long does installation take?

It depends on the size of the property, the number of sensors and whether the system is wired, hybrid or wireless. Upgrades that re-use existing cabling are usually quicker than full installs. The timescale is confirmed with the quote, and a DA17 reviewer wrote the installation “went smoothly and completed on time”.

Do you fit Ajax alarms with app control?

Yes. A Checkatrade-verified job in DA1 was the supply and fit of a new Ajax alarm system with 15 glass-break protectors, PIRs and key fobs. The reviewer noted the firm helps customers understand the apps and is available for after-sales care. Whether Ajax is the right fit for your property is confirmed at the quote visit.
